When you think about videos, what’s the first thing that comes into mind? Definitely not Facebook. In today’s episode, Nate Woodbury is going to talk about how to find your videos on Facebook, and why he’s biased towards using YouTube instead. Stay tuned!
Okay. So, you know that you’ve seen a great video on Facebook and you want to go back and find it. Potentially, because I want to share it with you or something like that. -Yeah. -How do you do that? How do you find a video on Facebook? -Sound simple. Let’s talk about it, stay with us. Okay. So, here’s the bad news. Kind of a punch in the gut here. -Right. -Facebook is a black hole. You can’t. You can’t find videos. Don’t even try. It’s like, it kills brain cells to actually search for a video on Facebook. -It’s just simply not set up to do that. -I’m obviously a YouTube guy. And I’ve got my biases but here’s the reason for the biases. YouTube is so well organized for all the the bajillion gigawatts of video could get uploaded to YouTube each day. You can find it. It’s it’s organized in a way that you can find whatever is there. -It’s all about videos on YouTube. That’s what it is. -And it’s organized, searchable. You just type in the title, you type in the person that’s in it or what they said and the video you’re looking for will pop right up. -Boom. -So, that is YouTube. It’s easy to find. But how do you do that on Facebook? -Two words. -I have a look at my notes. Black hole. It’s a black hole. You can’t. -I was going to say you don’t. -You know, You don’t. -Yeah.
-Facebook is a black hole for for content. It’s a social network. It’s not a media. -I mean at best… if I’m trying to find a video, I would have to remember whose wall I saw it on or maybe who posted it. And then I would search for them or go to a friend and maybe they have it on there. You know what I mean? -Ever thought about a video you posted a year ago? It’s like trying to dig for that? -If it’s your own video, yeah. Right? -If it’s a video that somebody else posted? Yeah, uh-huh. You’re going to remember who posted it by chance of you or some… -Now, sometime if you do post videos of your own, you know, you can go to your own profile and go videos, right? -You know that you know what Facebook has to do? They’ll come up and they’ll say, “Oh, remember this from a year ago?” -Right. yeah. -Otherwise you would never see it again. That’s the only reason you’re seeing that again is because Facebook’s like, “We’ve got a terrible system here. So, oh remember this?” -Just some random… Yeah, “3 years ago, you posted this video.” -So, I want to put another nail in this Facebook coffin. So, I have a friend that I think this year she is tracking making seven figures from posting videos on Facebook. Okay, so that that’s a big deal. But here’s why there’s a nail in the coffin. How she does it. She’s a stay-at-home chef. She’s a good friend of mine. But she has to repost her videos. So, there’s a feature where when you when you post a new video, you know, you know how to do that. You post it… She posts it to her page. But then a month later, she’ll come in and take that post because it started to you know, die off. You repost it as a fresh post. Facebook’s put in that feature where you have to go in and actually reshare in order to continue to keep it alive. You have to reshare it. Isn’t that odd? Okay. The other thing is she’s got a whole network of like seven or eight or nine other foodie vloggers or whatever they call themselves. That will come in and repost or reshare the content. So, it’s like, “Okay, here’s my new video. Next month I’m going to repost it. And then a month after that, can you repost it and I’ll repost one of yours?” And they have this whole network that will keep reposting it and sharing it and that’s how they keep getting traffic. So, that really… That’s a lot of work and it’s paying off. I was considering doing a campaign like this. Like out in the hallway, I kind of cleaned up my offer my studio here so we could film. So out in the hallway is like a rig for filming foodie type videos. Because I was really picking her brain. She’s awesome. She was really just like sharing everything behind the scenes. It’s a lot of work. It’s a lot of work what she’s doing… -Plus she have to know about food. -Yeah. Well, and I… In the last year and several months I’ve been eating a whole food plant-based. And most of videos that people want to watch on these videos are the desserts and the crazy. And the so it’s like… -Oh, I see what you’re saying. Yeah. That’s why you wouldn’t be able to do that even if you… -So, all my videos would be… Because I have a desire. I mean my interest is around healthy recipes. So, it’s like, you know, dipping carrots and… -Well, you should do that. -So this video… I was planning on making this video saying, “How do you find a video on Facebook?” You can’t. It’s a black hole. Alright. Hopefully found this video helpful. So anyway… I guess we’ll just end this video here. So, subscribe and we’ll have some better more helpful content in the next video.
