How do you launch a YouTube channel if this is your first time doing it? In this episode, Nate talks to Krista Kasey on how to launch your YouTube Channel, and what to focus on and not get lost in all of the ideas that you may want to put into your channel.

As an introduction of what to expect in this whole series, we’re going to dive in, we’re going to hone in on Krista’s topic. We’re actually going to do keyword research together. We’re going to film episodes. We’re going to… I’m going to coach you in real-time on how to do the intro, how to do the outro. We’re going to be editing an episode together and launching it on YouTube. So, we’re going to take you through all the steps. So, that’s what you can expect in this video. We’re really going to hone in on what your goals are for YouTube. And lay the foundation of what your channel name is going to be. And will actually create your YouTube channel and real time. Record it on my computer. So, a big thing that we need to discuss is what your channel is going to be about. And we’ve had some conversations about your sole purpose but I also know a lot of other things like you own a professional filming studio. And so, I’m wondering maybe you want to teach some things about filming. I’ve also learned that you’re a makeup artist. Is that right? Do you still do that? -Yes, I do. -And then I know that you’ve done home schooling. You’ve been involved with with education and then also you’ve just… You’ve overcome a lot and had some challenges. And that’s where we’ve kind of had some conversations about your purpose and helping other people find happiness and resiliency and whatnot. So, with all of that, which things do you want to incorporate in your channel. Kind of all the above? Or is it going to have a big focus or… -Okay. I’m laughing because this is kind of one of the deterrence for me in progressing in a lot of ways in my life. I’ve wanted to write books and couldn’t decide on exactly the direction to go here there and what to include. And I’ve heard recently that other people get stuck on the same so don’t feel too horrible about it but at the same time I’d love to decide a direction. And I wonder how important that is to choose one because I do do a variety of things. And… -She said, do-do. -And it’s… I don’t know. That’s part of who I am as well. So, I wonder if I can incorporate some of the things I’m involved in and the experiences that I find in all of those and we’ll continue to learn. I do have about 5 businesses that some might even focus on right now and some I will bring into the forefront. And like kind of distance myself a little bit from the others again them more automated. -So, in a future episode, we’re actually going to dive into the name of your channel on what your channel is going to be named. But I don’t want to share that with you too early because I don’t want it to influence what you share. Because anything that’s that’s important to you, you want to include on a channel. The more view that you share, the more people will really build a relationship with you. When you share something about Montessori and people like, “Oh, my kids go to Montessori.” It’s like all the sudden, there’s just that connection. And so on one hand, you want to be able to share those things but how much of a focus do you put on that I mean do we do a whole series on the advantages of Montessori schools. Maybe not, maybe not. And so, the conversation that we’ll have in the next episode, we’re really go into your sole purpose because if we look at what’s the end goal that we want to accomplish with our channel then we can… We can look at the topics of videos and think, “Okay, if I film a video about Montessori..” Or if I film a video about… What do you…? What do you call your makeup work? -Makeup Artistry. -Okay. So, if you could make of an episode and makeup artistry. You can think, “How does this tie into my end goal and my sole purpose? Does that provide any clarity? -It does. Do you need to tie it in necessarily to your sole purpose? And when you do, will it feel like you are forcing it too much? -Having clarity on what your end goal is allows you to answer that. And you could simply say, “This video is not going to help me get to my end goal. I’m filming it for another reason. And you just have clarity.” -Okay. -As opposed to just filming a whole variety of styles of episodes of putting them up there and hoping you get some result. -Yeah. -So, you do want to have clear down what your end goal is and it’s not that you can’t step away from that. But by having clarity, most of the time you’re going to be focusing on that and these other episodes that you film or the other work that you do. It won’t hurt that end goal. If making a makeup artistry video hurts or end goal, then mold then we don’t do it. -But otherwise, you kind of tell people to skip ahead. Watch the next episode instead or something like that. -That’s a good point. A lot of people will do that. They’ll make an episode that’s kind of different from the main focus of their channel. And they’ll say, “Hey, this is going to be a different episode. This is what I’m going to be talking about. This is what this episode is about. And if you’re not interested in that, go ahead and just skip ahead. Skip to tomorrow’s episode.” So if you want to see, if we can get a little bit more concrete, like where do you feel the focus the main content of your channel will be around? -This is a really good question. Because it forces me to get some clarity which I’m glad for. And I think a lot of it… A lot of my experiences came from my travels and from living abroad things like that. Mixed with what I was learning at the time in my personal life. And so I think there would be a pretty good combination. -If we fast-forward to the future and I know that monetization is not the number 1 goal. But if you were to look at ways that that you would monetize this channel, whether it’s selling a course or through books or through speaking, your coaching, what areas do you feel that you’ll be providing the most services or those type products? -Yeah. I think maybe through public speaking and sharing. I’m able to have a little bit more of an authentic voice that way. -Okay. So, if that’s a goal, knowing that, “I want to speak more. I want to be on big stages so I can really impact people in an audience.”, Then the channel that we’re gonna build and the videos that we’re gonna film need to be around that topic and really need to position you as the experts so they can include some of these other things so that people can connect with you so that people can relate and build that relationship. But that needs to be the focus what people hear from you on YouTube and the message that you build in the following that you built there. That’s going to help you get those speaking engagements. -That make sense. -So, hopefully you found this video helpful. It’s really important to really talk about that end goal and we’re going to do something even deeper. In the next episode, we’re going to talk about sole purpose because when you know what your sole purpose is it makes it really easy to define those end goals. And then we’re actually in the episode after that, we’re going to create the YouTube channel and give it a name. So, stay tuned, stick around for this whole series.
